hello
ReplyDeleteThis video explains matters concerning the federal budget. When alot of people hear the term "federal budget", they think to themselves, "well what do I care?" But you should care because it affects everyone. The federal budget consists of our money and affects our school budget, college scholarships and is one of the primary reasons why so many children end up in poverty. We have important programs and issues such as education, world hunger, Alternative energy, headstart and so many other programs that are deprived of so much money that can actually help sustain them due to military and armed forces. The main theme of the video is that more money should be put towards more important things like education rather than a war that has no purpose.
ReplyDeleteThis video does a great job of explaining the different ways our money is distributed. It also explains better ways it can be distributed to help everyone. This has got to be the best video I have ever watched. Wow! I always wonder where all the money goes and why we are in debt. I know its not as simple to fix as the ice cream man makes it but he makes great points with how to spread the money out to help everyone instead of just paying more attention to just one issue. Federal budget affects everyone. No one really thinks about it, we are just living. Sure I knew that there are not a lot of school scholarships, and no money for public schools but I have never looked at it like this.Twelve million children in poverty, that's ridiculous.this is an amazing video to help people better understand our money.
ReplyDeleteAll the money they spend on wars is pointless when they have all these allies who don't even spend half as much on their own supplies.
This video really gave me better insight into the issues of the United States. I was able to better understand what the government was doing with the citizen’s money. I always watch the news on the topics and it is so easily to get caught up in other people’s opinion. I have always thought that it was important to provide more money for schools. I understand that it is important also to protect our country as well. But growing up in a black community, I have experienced what can happen when a good education is not given or received. When I was in high school, I knew of many students who dropped out of school or just did not care about school. But now that I am in college, I see those same friends that wished that they could have finished high school and attended college. Most people still want to attend school but just do not have the money or knowledge of what to do. I think that education should start in the early part of a child’s life. With all the debate surrounding President Obama, I really like the fact that he is focus on developing early education. The Head Start programs meet the needs of many children and families. I truly believe great education and character starts at home. Head Start provides quality care and services for child and family development. With these programs, studies show that children benefit in the long term and they provide better home environments. I was in Head Start with I was very young.
ReplyDeleteI love this video! I find that all to often when organizations try to spread helpful information to the public they assume that everyone will understand what they are saying. Most of the time that is not true at all. This video is creative in that a child could watch it and understand the content being discussed. It kept my attention from start to finish. It was interesting how they broke down the figures and had found possible solutions to improving social problems. It seemed like the creators of the video actually did some research on the topics and knew what they were talking about. It definitely sparked questions such as why the government has not managed the that they do have to benefits everyone instead of putting more funds in places that seem more important than others.Overall it was an informative video

ReplyDeleteThis was an excellent video to display what exactly our government is spending funds on. I was very surprised to see that there are many funds that could go toward services that could help better schools and health care. This video also used an example that makes it easy to understand. I cannot believe that there are funds left over even when we consider monies used for military efforts. This is a great cause to join and a good example of how policy affects everyone. Although it might not be as easy as stated, this is a great idea that should definitely be considered. I am very interested in what I have viewed and it leaves me to wonder what exactly needs to be done in order to make this idea a reality.
ReplyDeleteI liked this video a lot. I like seeing things that intend to inform but do it in a manner that is unexpected. I like when knowledge is given in an unconventional manner. I found it interesting that Mr. Ben Cohen, the founder of Ben and Jerry’s ice cream was the individual that was enlightening me. I like when people (particularly those who are affluent) step out of their “comfort zone” and stand up for a cause that they believe in. It lets me know that there are good people in the world whose main priority is not to achieve fiscal means. The video itself was interesting. The correlation of the Oreo cookies was a nice touch. The video brought much needed attention to our Nations budget crisis. Hopefully more people will pay attention to the efforts that has been put forth. I commend Mr. Cohen and everyone else who had something to do with this PSA. Great job, I’m impressed and eager to see more.
ReplyDeleteThis was an excellent video. The man seemed to really know what he was talking about. He really broke the issue down so that "regular" people could understand the problem. I really liked the cookie analogy. I also liked the question-answer concept. The video was organized so that frequently asked/considered questions were asked and then answered. Furthermore, the man had a good plan for correcting the problem. I know how difficult it is to understand the Federal Budget. I had to complete a report on it once. It is confusing. I also agree that we as Americans should be more interested in how our money is spent. I thought so much of this video that I sent it to several people.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this video! I thought it was very informative but simplified. Explaining our nation's fiscal problems with Oreos, allows the chance for average Americans to learn more about our problems. The national deficit and other fiscal issues can be overwhelming at times. The issue can seem out of touch or reason for most Americans. We often think of those issues as governmental problems that we will never be able to do anything about. Ben Cohen has done a wonderful job at breaking down the issues so the "average man" can join in the struggle to improve our nation. It is my personal belief that individuals will feel more comfortable to be associated with an organization whose founder has already made a name for himself. Ben Cohen is already a public figure, this will only further the chances of citizens joining his organization.
ReplyDeleteThis video was very informative and allows everyday people to understand how the government is spending the United States money. The video comes from True Majority website. The man in the video uses cookies as a means of breaking the federal budget down so that everyone can understand. It was very creative and allowed the viewer to think of things in a different light. When they give all the numbers of what they are spending each year it seems like a lot. The pentagon spends the most money on the army which is ridiculous. I am grateful for these people fighting for our freedom but now thy are fighting for other countries freedom and are loosing more soldiers each day. It also seems that the government is not putting nearly as much time and or money into important things like education, health insurance, and poverty. These are three factors that countries poorer than the United States put their money into to make more productive citizens. I makes sense for a country to put more money into the people so that there will have less crime, more educated people, more jobs, and better health. If more money was being put in these areas than maybe the government wouldn't spend so much money on government assistance programs because less people would be applying.
ReplyDeleteThe Oreo video was a great way to make children understand how much the government is wasting on unnecessary needs instead of on education and health insurance other important resources. The video detailed information in a simple way. In my professional opinion, the film was good but unnecessary for certain individuals. The film expresses the need for improvement certain areas. This film would be informative for the government legislator’s but not social workers. The main reason is because as a social worker we must advocate for a particular problem that one or more clients may have. No matter how much a social worker wants to change different policies, the social worker must always focus his or her attention on their client’s issue. The video was somewhat amusing. Ben Colin did showed a certain concern for the federal budget even though he is probably wealthy. The video was also a good advertisement tool for true majority. The most important tool that is important in this article is education. I have also posted an article that explains the drop rate in my own city.
ReplyDeleteThe federal government's budget is a huge task and is difficult to keep under control. The USA spends 40 billion dollars yearly on the pentagon alone. The government spends 35 billion on education yearly. The federal budget affects everyone, therefore citizens must take an active interest in knowing how the budget is spent and divided among groups. This video definitely sheds light on the fact that the American people usually do not know where the government spends tax payers money throughout a a fiscal year. From a professional point of view, the true majority organization as well as other awareness groups are very important and needed in society. An good technique that was used in the video was the symbolism of the oreo cookie. It was simple to comprehend and caught my attention.
